Windy Whopper Burger with Kalmes Seasoning

A big, diner-style burger featuring an 8-ounce beef patty seasoned with Kalmes Famous 2-in-1 Steak Seasoning & Meat Tenderizer, topped with two slices of melted cheese, mayo, lettuce, pickles, onion, and tomato on a toasted bun.

Servings: 1 burger
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: approximately 15 minutes
Total time: approximately 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 oz ground beef, preferably 80/20
  • ½ teaspoon Kalmes Famous 2-in-1 Steak Seasoning & Meat Tenderizer, or to taste
  • 1 large hamburger bun, split
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1–2 lettuce leaves
  • 3–4 pickle slices
  • 2 thin onion slices
  • 2 tomato slices
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter, optional, for toasting the bun

Instructions

  1. Gently shape the ground beef into one patty about ¾ inch thick and slightly wider than the bun. Make a shallow indentation in the center.
  2. Sprinkle the Kalmes seasoning evenly over both sides of the patty.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the patty for approximately 6–8 minutes per side, adjusting the heat as needed to prevent burning. Avoid pressing down on the patty. Cook until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F; use temperature, not time or color, to check doneness.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, add both slices of cheese and cover briefly to melt.
  5. Lightly butter the cut sides of the bun, if desired, and toast in a separate skillet until golden.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the toasted bun. Add the cheeseburger patty, pickles, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Finish with the top bun.
  7. Serve immediately with crinkle-cut fries or your favorite burger side.

Chef’s Tip

Handle the beef gently and skip pressing it while it cooks to help keep the burger juicy. Kalmes seasoning brings the flavor, so start without additional salt.
